Why Amazon declines a Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) order, and what to do

When Amazon won't ship a non-Amazon order from your FBA stock, here's what the alert means and how to get the order out.

Written by Dan Sugarman

Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) is how Zentail ships an order from another channel, such as Walmart, out of your Amazon FBA stock. Amazon sometimes declines one of these orders. When it does, the order isn't shipped, and you need to act before the channel's ship-by date.

How a declined order shows in Zentail

The order stays unshipped and gets an alert carrying Amazon's reason. The most common ones:

  • "Delivery SLA is not available for given destination address. This may mean we are unable to meet the provided shippingSpeedCategory."

  • A message containing "No inventory available"

  • "Amazon would not accept the shipping address for Multi-Channel Fulfillment. Correct the Ship To address, or fulfill this order from another warehouse."

Why Amazon declines an order

  • It can't deliver to that address at the speed the order needs. This is the "Delivery SLA" message. Walmart and Target Plus orders shipped by Amazon must go in an unbranded box and can't use Amazon Logistics as the carrier. That leaves Amazon fewer ways to meet the delivery speed, so it can decline orders it would accept for Amazon itself.

  • It has no FBA stock it can use for an item in the order.

  • It rejected the shipping address.

What Zentail does next

For the three reasons above, Zentail treats Amazon's decline as final. It doesn't resend the order to Amazon, and it stops checking Amazon for updates on it. For any other message, Zentail tries a few more times before it stops. Either way, the order then waits for you.

What to do

  1. Re-route the order to a warehouse that has stock. See How to Manually Route (or Re-Route) an Order to a Warehouse.

  2. Or create the fulfillment yourself in Amazon Seller Central, then import its tracking into Zentail. Zentail won't pick up tracking for an order you created in Seller Central, so import it with the steps in How to Import Order Tracking Information into Zentail.

  3. If Amazon rejected the address, correct the Ship To address on the order first, then route it again.

  4. If the order can't ship at all, cancel it on the channel before its ship-by date. That protects your seller metrics.

Avoid it next time
