This article will guide you on understanding and resolving some common "Input data" error messages from eBay. This eBay Error Message has a different meaning and resolution, depending on what product data eBay has about the SKU. To resolve the "Input data for tag <Item.ShippingDetails>" eBay error, please visit this article here

To better understand the nature of this issue, you must first click on the error message which will allow you to view the raw Request and the Response data in Zentail. Here are the most common errors when listing to eBay:

Error Message: Input data for tag <Item.PrimaryCategory.CategoryID> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.

 • Response data: <LongMessage>Input data for tag <Item.PrimaryCategory.CategoryID> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.</LongMessage>

 • Summary: The eBay Category ID is missing from Zentail.

 • Solution: To fix this issue, simply enter the eBay Category into Zentail for this SKU.

Error Message: Input data for tag <Item.ProductListingDetails> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.

 • Response data: <LongMessage>Input data for tag <Item.ProductListingDetails> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.</LongMessage>

 • Summary: The UPC field (aka Custom Label in eBay) for this SKU is either blank or invalid.

 • Solution: To fix this, simply enter a valid UPC for your product. If the product does not have a UPC, enter "does not apply" and then save your edit.

Error Message: Input data for tag <Item.ItemID> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.

 • Response: The raw response for this message was not stored.

 • Summary: This means eBay does not have an Item ID for this SKU. This happens when you click the "UPDATE & PUSH" in Zentail after making an edit to resolve another common error - likely listed on this page- that prevented eBay from creating a listing. In this case, eBay's error API is faster than their ability to update the information we have just sent. Hang tight, your SKU will be listed within 15 minutes and this error will disappear.

Error Message: Input data for tag <Item.StartPrice> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.

 • Response: The raw response for this message was not stored.

 • Summary: The Sales Price is missing.

 • Solution: The Sales Price is missing. To fix this, simply enter a Sales Price in Zentail for this SKU.

Error Message: Input data for tag <Item.SellerProfiles.SellerPaymentProfile.PaymentProfileID> is invalid or missing.

Error Message: Input data for tag <Item.PictureDetails[2].PictureURL[4]> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.

 • Solution: If it's for a product group, verify that all SKUs in the product group have an image.

Error Message: Input data for tag <Item.ShippingDetails.CalculatedShippingRate.PackageDepth> is invalid or missing. Please check API documentation.

 • Summary: your eBay shipping settings require dimensions to be provided in the "PRICE & AVAILABILITY" > "Shipping" section in Zentail for each SKU. These dimensions are either missing or invalid.

 • Solution: Click the blue "EDIT" button for the affected SKU => In the "PRICE & AVAILABILITY" section scroll down to "Shipping" and make sure the Package Length, Width, Height and Weight (LBs) are all provided. Please be sure only to include the number with or without decimal. Non-numeric characters are not accepted.

Error Message: The tags Type is/are disabled as Variant.

 • Summary: You are missing a field, or as eBay calls it a "tag", to get this listed.

 • Solution: Click the blue "EDIT" button for the affected SKU => (if this is a product group, go to Product Group Attributes) => General Info. In this example, Type or Product Type needs to be filed in. If it were to read: "The tags Style is/are disabled as Variant" then Style would need to be filled in.

 • Save your changes, Update and Push to eBay.
