Why You May Need to Reauthenticate
Zentail connects to eBay using an authorization token. If that token expires or becomes invalid, Zentail will no longer be able to communicate with eBay — which means listings won't update (including pricing and inventory), and new orders may stop syncing into Zentail.
Common reasons you may need to reauthenticate include:
Token expiration — eBay tokens expire periodically (approximately every 18 months). Zentail will display a warning banner and show the expiration date on your eBay integration settings page.
eBay password change — If the password on your eBay seller account is changed, your existing token is immediately invalidated and you'll need to reauthenticate.
Unexpected authentication prompt — Occasionally, tokens can expire or become invalid before their expected expiration date. If you see an authentication message, complete the steps below even if you don't believe your token is due to expire.
Inventory or orders not syncing — If inventory levels, pricing, or orders are not syncing between Zentail and eBay, an expired or invalid token is often the cause.
Authentication method changes — From time to time, Zentail or eBay may update the authorization method, requiring all users to reauthenticate with the updated flow.
How to Check Your Token Expiration Date
You can see when your eBay token is set to expire directly in Zentail by going to Account > Integration Settings and clicking your eBay integration. The expiration date is displayed on the page:
We recommend reauthenticating before the expiration date to avoid any interruption to your listings or order syncing.
How to Reauthenticate eBay in Zentail
⚠️ Always use an Incognito window — this step is critical
Google Chrome saves your passwords and may automatically log you into the wrong eBay account without you realizing it. This can silently connect the wrong eBay account to your Zentail integration. Always open a new Incognito window before starting — do not attempt to reauthenticate from a regular browser tab.
To open an Incognito window in Chrome:
Press
Ctrl+Shift+N(Windows) orCmd+Shift+N(Mac)Or go to the Chrome menu (three dots) > New Incognito Window
Once you have an Incognito window open:
Log into Zentail in the Incognito window
Navigate to Account > Integration Settings
Click on your eBay integration
Click the Authenticate button
You will be redirected to eBay — log in with the correct eBay seller account credentials for that integration
Once authorized, you'll be returned to Zentail and the token will be refreshed
After reauthenticating, allow a few minutes for the connection to update. You can confirm success by checking the updated expiration date on the integration settings page.
If You Have Multiple eBay Stores
If you have more than one eBay integration connected to Zentail, each store must be reauthenticated separately. This makes the Incognito window even more important — without it, Chrome may auto-fill the credentials from your last login and connect the wrong eBay account to the wrong store. Open a fresh Incognito window for each eBay integration and make sure you're logging into the correct eBay account each time.
If the Authenticate Button Doesn't Redirect You to eBay
If you click Authenticate and are brought back to the same Zentail page without being redirected to eBay, try the following:
Confirm you are in an Incognito window and logged into Zentail fresh
Try a different browser
Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again

Potential Side Effect: Duplicate Orders
In some cases, reauthenticating after a lapsed or expired token can cause eBay orders to appear as duplicates in Zentail (same eBay order number, different Zentail order IDs). If this happens:
Identify the duplicate orders and cancel one of each pair
Zentail does not automatically detect or remove duplicate orders from this scenario
If you have orders stuck in an incorrect status after cleanup, contact our support team and we can update the order status on our end
