Learn how Walmart OMNI spec v5 uses Net Content, Total Count, Count Per Pack, and Multipack Quantity — and how to set them correctly in Zentail.

Here’s a draft help center article you can paste into Intercom (or adapt). It follows the tone and structure of Listing attributes that require special consideration.

Walmart count, pack size, and net content attributes

Learn how Walmart OMNI spec v5 uses Net Content, Total Count, Count Per Pack, and Multipack Quantity — and how to set them correctly in Zentail.

Walmart requires several related attributes on most product types. They sound similar, but each answers a different question. Getting them wrong causes listing errors, incorrect pack-size display, or items that never go live on Walmart.com.

Walmart attributes at a glance

Walmart attribute

What it means

Net Content

Quantity and unit printed on the product label (e.g. 13.4 Ounce, 50 Count, 128 Fluid Ounces). Required for visibility on Walmart.com for many product types.

Please Note: If your item includes multiple items with the same UOM, add them together to get the total measurement. If the item is a set with multiple items that do not share the same UOM, list as 1 Each.'

Total Count (count)

Total number of identical items in the sellable package. (ex. 100 pills or 2 bars)

Count Per Pack (countPerPack)

Number of identical items inside each inner pack when the listing is a multipack. (ex. 50 pills or 2 bars)

Multipack Quantity (multipackQuantity)

How many separately packaged, individually sellable units are in the listing. Use 1 when the product is a single wrapper (bars not sold separately, one box of 6 cans not marked for individual sale, etc.).

Relationship:

Total Count = Multipack Quantity × Count Per Pack

Question

Use this

What does the label say (weight, volume, or count)?

Unit Count → Walmart Net Content

How many identical items are in the whole listing?

Multipack Quantity, Count Per Pack, and resulting Total Count

Is this a multipack of separately sellable units?

Multipack Quantity > 1

Are several items in one wrapper (not sold separately)?

Multipack Quantity = 1; put the number of items in Count Per Pack / Total Count

Net Content should match packaging text, not be calculated from Count Per Pack × Multipack Quantity unless that matches the label.

Examples:

  • Gallon of milk: Unit Count 128, UOM Fluid Ounces (or equivalent valid Walmart unit).

  • 2-pack of 50-count pill bottles (each bottle individually sellable): Multipack Quantity 2, Count Per Pack 50, Total Count 100. Net Content is usually per-bottle label (50 + Count) unless the outer label states the total (100 + Count).

  • 2 candy bars in one wrapper, 13.4 oz total: Multipack Quantity 1, Count Per Pack 2, Total Count 2. Unit Count 13.4, UOM Ounce (not 2 in Unit Count for weight).

Managing attributes in Zentail

QuickEdit

Add these columns to your QuickEdit view:

  • Unit Count

  • Count Per Pack

  • Multipack Quantity

or use this link.

Filter listing errors for the Walmart channel to see which SKUs are missing or invalid.

Imports

You can import pack and count fields using the catalog column names:

  • unit_count

  • unit_count_uom

  • count_per_pack

  • multipack_quantity

Use Valid Values sheets for Walmart when available; they list allowed UOMs and channel-specific overrides.

Variants (pivot attributes)

Count, Unit Count, and Multipack Quantity can be used as pivot attributes (with size and similar fields) so variants differ by pack size or count.

Unit Count UOM defaults

For Walmart, Count is a common default UOM for Net Content when the product is count-based. Weight and volume products should use Ounce, Fluid Ounces, Pound, Gram, etc., as allowed for the product type.

Common mistakes

Mistake

Fix

Setting Multipack Quantity to 2 for a single bag with 2 unwrapped bars

Use 1; put 2 in Count Per Pack and Total Count

Putting 13.4 in Unit Count for a weight product without Ounce UOM

Use 13.4 + Ounce; don’t use Count for weight

Using catalog Count for Walmart Total Count

Use Multipack Quantity / Count Per Pack

Net Content = Count Per Pack × Multipack when label shows total

Use the label value (e.g. 100 Count on outer pack)

Net Content = 50 when outer label says 100

Match the label for the SKU you’re listing

Total Count = 2 but Unit Count = 13.4 Ounce for same SKU

Correct — weight and piece count are different dimensions

Troubleshooting

Listing error on Net Content or Total Count

  1. Open the SKU in QuickEdit with Walmart errors highlighted.

  2. Confirm Unit Count and Unit Count UOM match the product label.

  3. Confirm Multipack Quantity, Count Per Pack, and implied total (qty × per pack) match how the item is actually packaged.

Item not visible on Walmart.com

Net Content is required for many product types. Ensure Unit Count is filled with valid Walmart units for that product type.

Product type–specific rules

Requirements vary by Walmart product type. Use Listing Prep to see required attributes for that PT, or download the Valid Values sheet for the product type.
