This product group has duplicate variations. These SKUs are not unique based on the pivot attribute(s):

Look familiar?

If you see the Error that your product group has duplicate variations, you should take action to resolve this right away! Marketplaces will not allow sellers to create listings where the group (parent-child listing / variation listing) has duplicate products.

What it means to have duplicate variations

First, let's define what this critical issue means. A product group is a collection of products that vary or "pivot" by a certain attribute or attributes. Most often, the pivot attribute (or variation theme) is size and/or color. Although groups also often pivot by flavor, hand orientation, or model.

To have 'duplicate variations' in a group means that there are two or more SKUs that look the same to Zentail- meaning there is nothing different about the 'pivot attribute' between the SKUs.

Situations where cause duplicate variations

There are three common situations that cause this error:

  1. There is no Pivot Attribute in the group on Zentail

  2. The pivot attribute information is exactly the same for multiple SKUs

  3. The pivot attribute information missing for multiple SKUs

There is no Pivot Attribute in the group on Zentail

To correct this issue, simply add a Pivot Attribute on Zentail!  Then fill in the necessary information for each SKU.  Remember -- you can edit pivot information directly from this view.

The pivot attribute information is exactly the same for multiple SKUs

In this situation, you'll want to edit the SKUs that have the same pivot attribute information.  In the above screenshot one of 'black' SKUs should either be a different color or removed from the group.  Another option is to add another pivot attribute (like 'size') to further distinguish between SKUs.

For product groups like this, you need to fill in the missing information and make sure it's unique for each SKU.
