Zentail SMART Types allow you to automatically categorize products and send product type-specific attributes to all channels. The SMART Type platform is constantly learning based on common attributes in use for specific SMART Types across our growing seller base.
For example, if you want to list a button-down long sleeve shirt, one marketplace might categorize it as a "Dress Shirt" and want to know the sleeve length, while another marketplace might categorize it as a "Button Down Shirt" and want to know the "length". Zentail's SMART Type system maps all these categories and attributes so you can list faster, with greater accuracy, and provide each of your channels with the highest quality data. We believe this technology is game-changing and we're excited for your business to benefit from it.
It also determines what attributes are most valuable in that category, and maps the channel differences for those attributes. For example, 'Wattage' may be 'BulbWattage' on Amazon, 'Power' on eBay, and 'Wattage' on Walmart. And may even use a different set of valid units on each one (watts, Watts, W). The SMART type handles all this too.
To edit or assign a SMART Type:
On your Catalog page search for and click on the SKU to select it.
In the left sidebar that opens for that SKU, click Catalog to access the detailed product information.
At the upper right, you will see the SMART Type field where you can search for and select the desired SMART Type (based on Amazon Item Type values). To save your selected SMART Type, simply tab to another field.
Scroll down to the Categorization section to view the categorization for that Smart Type and edit if desired.
Required attributes
Each channel you sell on requires certain attributes before it will accept a product in a given category. Zentail works out which ones apply to each of your products and marks them Required on the product's edit page, along with the channel that requires each one. This includes attributes a channel requires even when the SMART Type doesn't normally show them.
The Required markers keep themselves up to date. When a channel changes what it requires, or when we improve how a SMART Type maps to a channel, the markers update automatically. You don't need to track channel changes yourself. Just fill in the required catalog attributes and it will go live on all of your channels!
Fill it in once, on the product. A SMART Type attribute is a catalog attribute, and Zentail maps it to every channel that uses it, so one value feeds all of them. If one channel needs a different value, set a listing attribute for that channel instead, as an override on the SKU or on the whole listing. To set one, see Listing Attributes and Overrides. To set a different price, title or description for one channel, see How to Use Advanced Options to Set Channel Overrides.
If you don't see a Required marker you expected:
Check that the product has a category set for that channel. Zentail looks up a channel's requirements by the product's category on that channel, so with no category set there is nothing to show.
Some channel requirements have no matching SMART Type attribute, so they get no marker. Fill those in as a listing attribute for that channel.
