The Product History feature tracks any changes made to a SKU. This includes changes to the product, price, and inventory data, as well as updates due to sales for the SKU.

By exposing this information, and allowing for the ability to filter your Product History, you can answer questions like:

How did the quantity get set to X?

Who changed the price of this item?

What was my old title before I changed it?

This article outlines the following functionality with Product History:

Accessing Product History

  1. From your Catalog, search for and select the SKU of interest

  2. Click on the large gear icon โš™๏ธ near the top of the left sidebar

  3. Select Product History

  4. By default, All Attributes will appear. You can filter this by both time range, and specific attributes.

Note: The "Attributes Included" contains every attribute used within that specific timeframe.

Understanding the information provided

Each update includes the following information:

  1. The type of data that changed
    The different options here include:

    • Listing

    • Catalog

    • Pricing

    • Inventory

    • Groups

Pro tip: This is a common variable to use in your filter. For example- see all "Pricing" changes for this SKU. You can filter for this variable by clicking on it an an update.

  2. Who (or what) made the change
This may show a specific user on your account, an import ID, Zentail System, or even an integration.
โ€‹Note: You will see "Zentail System" for changes made via a Zentail Bulk Action or Automation rule, as well as change through the Zentail open API.

  3. What changed
Typically you will see an attribute that was changed.

  4. The change
If applicable, you will see the before and after values.

Putting it all together with our example:

The type of data that was edited was Listing data. Zentail System (the "who"), made a change to listed ("what"), setting it to list to Targer Plus (the change)!

Using Filters

There are multiple ways to slice and dice your product history. You will see a few pre-built filter options, as well as the ability to filter for changes within a time range, specific types of changes (like "Listing" or "Inventory"), and more.

Zentail Provided Filters

Zentail has provided a couple of preselected filter views that can help you get started. This filter will show you 'Where the change is taking place'. As you can see under the 'Attributes Included', the number of attributes changes with these predetermined filters. You can select from the following:

  1. All Changes

  2. Catalog Changes

  3. Pricing Changes

  4. Inventory Changes

  5. Group Changes

  6. Listing Changes

Filter by Time Range

The Product history page now allows users to filter by a specific time range so you can declutter your personalized view.

  1. From the Product History Page, select the Time Range dropdown menu that starts with '1 Month'.

  2. Users can then select from a wide range of predetermined dates, or you can even choose a custom date range.

    • Select custom dates for the 'Start Time' and 'End Time' windows that appear once this option is selected to view the custom time range.

Filter for a specific attribute

Within the Attributes Included, users can filter for any specific attribute change that they wish within a given timeframe. Here is how:

  1. From the Product History page, select the dropdown menu that starts with "All Attributes".

  2. De-select the blue checkmark so no Attributes are highlighted.

  3. Scroll down or filter for the Attribute that you are looking to view the history. Note: You can select as many or as few attributes as you want for that given timeframe.

  4. Alternatively, this can be done in the reverse way as well. By default, the filter automatically has every attribute selected. Clicking on a specific attribute will remove it from the filter.

Using Additional Filters

Looking for a specific user or action? Users can get even more granular with their searches! Anything circled on the Product History Page can be clicked on to add that specific action as an additional filter to whatever else was included in your search.

Download View

Click the download button to view the hard work you've done in a .csv format. The new file will then be sent to your export history page in order to view it.
