How to connect ShipMonk to Zentail

Connect your ShipMonk account so Zentail sends it your orders and reads back tracking and stock.

Written by Matthew Thomas

Once ShipMonk is connected, Zentail sends ShipMonk the orders assigned to your ShipMonk warehouse. ShipMonk sends back tracking, and Zentail keeps your stock in step with what ShipMonk has on hand. Cancelling an order in Zentail cancels it in ShipMonk too, unless ShipMonk has already started packing it.

You need an account admin login for Zentail, and access to your ShipMonk account's settings.

Step 1: Get ready in ShipMonk

  • Make sure you have a Shipmonk API store. In ShipMonk, click the gear icon at the top right and open Stores. If you don't have one, ask your ShipMonk contact to set it up.

  • On that store's Information tab, tick Submit orders automatically. Without it, ShipMonk holds every order Zentail sends until someone submits it by hand.

  • On the store's Shipping Mapping tab, map the six service levels Zentail sends: Same Day, Next Day, Second Day, Three Day, Standard and Economy.

  • Load every product into ShipMonk under the same SKU it has in Zentail, and set up each kit as a bundle.

Step 2: Find your store ID and create an API key

Open your Shipmonk API store from the Stores page.

The Store ID is at the top of the store page. Note it down.

Open the Integration API Keys tab, click Create API Key, and copy the key. Treat it like a password.

Step 3: Install ShipMonk in Zentail

While logged in to Zentail, open this ShipMonk install link and approve the access ShipMonk asks for.

On the next page, paste your API key and store ID, then click Connect. Zentail checks the key with ShipMonk and lists the ShipMonk warehouses it can see.

Step 4: Link a Zentail warehouse to ShipMonk

In Zentail, go to Settings → Warehouses and open the warehouse ShipMonk fulfills from.

  • Set both Inventory Integration and Fulfill Integration to ShipMonk. Only account admins see these two fields.

  • Fill in both identifier fields, Shipping Integration Unique Identifier and Inventory Integration Unique Identifier, with any text, for example shipmonk.

  • Click Update Warehouse.

Link exactly one warehouse to ShipMonk. Stock syncs within a few minutes, and new orders for that warehouse start flowing to ShipMonk.

If something goes wrong

  • "ShipMonk rejected this key": the key was mistyped or revoked. Create a new key and try again.

  • "Start the install again from Zentail": the install link expired or was opened in a different browser. Open the install link again in the same browser and finish within 30 minutes.

  • An order shows a ShipMonk alert in Zentail: the alert names what ShipMonk needs, such as a missing SKU or a missing shipping mapping. Fix it in ShipMonk and the alert clears on the next sync.
